This typeface was created with four rules in mind: "to write all characters," "to use very common water-based pens," "to write on very common copy paper," and "to write all characters of one weight in one day." According to records, I completed Thin on November 9, 2007, Regular on November 13, 2007, Bold on December 5, 2007, and doodling on February 8, 2008, scribbling in a relaxed state, or rather, in a casual manner, and then digitizing them on a computer... The rest is omitted. "To write all characters" means imposing on oneself the task of writing everything, even characters that utilize combinations without recycling them. Even within the same weight, "A" and "Á" have subtly different shapes, and the "A" in Thin, Regular, and Bold is not the same. However, when presented as a typeface family like this, surprisingly, there is no sense of discomfort. I believe this is because it's likely the same person wrote all the characters. So what's the point? That's the story. "To use very common water-based pens" and "to write on very common copy paper" mean just that. Of course, it's only from my perspective that they're "very common," but I casually picked up some water-based pens and copy paper lying around (well, the ones I usually use) and finished writing all characters of one weight in one day. The goal is to produce things roughly and casually, and that's how I'm actually making them—roughly and casually. It's quite challenging to deliberately behave like that, you know.
